It is scary to learn after the East Coast earth quake that occured recently that people and politicians believe that should the earth quake have been slightly more destructive that this event would have stimulated our sad economy. Here is an interesting video that should shed some light on this concept and stimulate some debate. Stay tuned for more sustainability articles and discussions soon. Recently, a number of neighbourhoods in Edmonton have decided to change their speed limit from 50 kph to 40 kph. Decreases in speed and traffic make a significant difference for residential safety. Should Westmount implement such a policy? Should we build more physical traffic calming measures? A safe neighbourhood is, well, a safe neighborhood! Should we try to implement something like this in the spring? |
