Say it isn’t so. The summer break for the Westmount Community League is nearly over! Regular monthly meetings will recommence on the second Tuesday of the month starting on September the 14th.
The Community Engagement Team is looking for some new ideas for getting more people out and involved in Westmount.
Our next scheduled event is part of an exciting initiative by the City of Edmonton. Their goal is to have every community in Edmonton hold an event in their neighborhood on the same day,… September the 18th. Check out what’s going on around Edmonton at the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues website:

We have chosen Westmount Story as our event. There will be a photo contest with some great prizes to be won. Photos will be judged by some local talent, and the winning photos will be announced and on display at the hall. For more info on how to enter a photo into the contest, please check out the contest in the events section of the website.
We look forward to seeing you out to the Taste of Westmount dinner out series, as well as the Snack and Chat info evenings at the hall. We have a few new ideas for events this year, and always welcome your ideas. We can be contacted at

The Westmount Community Eco Garden is a project in which all members of the community are invited to share their thoughts and skills, and of course their gardening and artistic talents!
Currently there is an unused ball diamond North of Westglen Elementary School that has been designated as the garden site. Members of the Westmount Community are asked to share their experience and/or time in all aspects of this project’s development.

Taste Of Westmount

Taste of Westmount is a regular dine-out that moves to a new restaurant each time.
Also called the Moveable Feast, it’s a fun night out, and often childcare is available. These events also help us get to know some of our neighbours, build community, and support Westmount businesses.
For the date and location of the next dine-out, please see our Events Calendar.
Our first dine-out, at Numchok Wilai on 124 St, filled up the restaurant with over 60 people; we had to turn people away. So if you want to come, reserve early! |

Rogers Communications Inc. is planning to erect a 30m (98.5 feet) tall mobile cellular tower in the Westmount neighbourhood. The location of the tower will be in the Groat Plaza Mall For more information, see http://rogerstower.wordpress.com.
Westmount Community League is opposed to the proposed location of this tower, and has suggested that a more appropriate location be found. See our letter to all three levels of government, and Rogers Communication.
Update: See the League’s latest letter to Rogers and Industry Canada, which provides an update on the community-wide opposition to the proposed location of the tower, including opposition from our MP, our MLA, our two schools’ parents associations, the hundreds who have signed petitions and joined a Facebook group, and the letter of non-concurrence from the City of Edmonton. |
